Breakthrough at the Lit Lab
All writing styles, all experience levels, all over the world!
Welcome to the community!
We’re an online writing community, made by and for LGBTQ+ writers and our ally friends!
About Us
Our community was founded on the idea that, sometimes, we need a little accountability and help from someone else to pursue expressing ourselves creatively. It can help to share our progress and motivation with a friend.
Though we now have in-person events, our discord server was the beginning of our journey. First and foremost, it's an LGBTQ+-forward space, where queer writers can share their work free of judgment. Our priority lies in the safety of our community members.
Aside from sharing our work with each other, we also help with goals and deadlines, share submission calls, promote our published work, participate in contests, and have community events over discord!
We welcome writers of all walks of life, all experience levels, all writing styles, and all over the world!
Meet our featured writer!
This is Mae Kleiman (she/her). She's a trans poet located in Los Angeles, California. After receiving her BFA in English from Lewis & Clark College, thriving under the guidance of award-winning author Mary Szybist, Mae continues to haunt open mics and poetry contests where she can, her voice commanding attention, her words floating upon perfumed winds. She hopes to connect with other trans writers, and will continue to write of their shared experiences in all things, from love, to family, to emotional-drunk-girl-in-the-club-bathroom moments.
Mae won our community's first ever writing competition, receiving a reusable eco-friendly notebook as her prize, and completed our pre-zine writing challenge. Way to go, Mae!
